About the role

Mind’s Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) program works to support young people between the ages of 16-21 years to recover from mental illness by providing up to 12 months stay in a supportive therapeutic environment. Focused on a recovery oriented framework, the service offers opportunities to young people for skill development, enhanced social relationships and community access.

We are seeking several resilient, compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioners for casual opportunities to work on a 24/7 rotating roster across both the Annandale and Aitkenvale sites. You will support young people to recover from mental health challenges by developing their life skills as well as deliver person-centred services to clients, families and carers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients using targeted and integrated case managed responses.
  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences in a residential setting.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and collaborating with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
