About the role

Mind operate Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation services for people with severe and enduring psychosocial disability, these residences are staffed 24/7 and funded through residents’ NDIS packages. Guided by Mind’s model of recovery oriented practice and the Dual Disability Framework, services operate in collaboration with the local community with the focus on supporting people to achieve their life goals.

We are have permanent, part time (2 days per week) and casual opportunities for experienced, motivated Community Support Workers to work on a 24/7 rotating roster in the Toowoomba area. You will be supporting clients to recover from mental health challenges as well as delivering person-centred services to clients, families and carers by developing life skills in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients using targeted and integrated case managed responses.
  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences in a residential setting.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
  • Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
