Your Opportunity:

It’s particularly important we strive for reconciliation at Mission Australia, because we work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on a daily basis as we look to fulfil our goal of ending homelessness and ensuring people and communities in need can thrive.

You will use your well-developed project experience, ideally within HR/Community Services and working knowledge of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to achieve the deliverables identified within the plan by collaborating at all levels with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

This superb 12 month full time contract will see you leading, driving and implementing the People & Culture specific initiatives of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Some of the key initiatives you will be working on are:

  • Development of a cultural safety framework
  • Refresh of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment strategy
  • Reviews of current policies, and onboarding processes, including succession planning framework for our current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
  • Facilitate and drive open conversations and devise training refreshment in cultural awareness, diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias training for all staff
  • Prepare and provide regular communication updates of the project plan and milestones reached as you work to continuously strengthen Mission Australia's RAP

Requirements for success:

  • Experience working in HR and demonstrated experience working on small/medium sized projects
  • Strong focus on the ability to drive progress within a tight timeframe and in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • As you will be reviewing and/or writing People and Culture policies - attention to detail is imperative
  • A strong voice! We value your knowledge, interest, passion and awareness as we seek to enhance and implement our Reconciliation Action Plan
  • An understanding of the community services sector and the instrumental role of charities in meeting human need.

This is a hands-on, hit the ground running role - however, you will have the support and expertise of the People & Culture Continuous Improvement Manager to share and bounce your ideas and will also work closely with the Mission Australia RAP Coordinator and RAP Reference Group for the overall vision of how our RAP is actioned and received.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
