ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will provide best practice, evidence informed service delivery to strengthen parent’s capacity to care for and protect their children. You will work with a range of vulnerabilities including mental health issues, domestic violence, alcohol and drug use and homelessness.

Our aim is to foster a home environment the enables children to:

  • grow up in a safe, nurturing environment
  • have enhanced wellbeing, health and education outcomes

Our aim is also to equip parents to:

  • have the skills to reduce the risk of neglect or abuse of their children
  • understand how to foster healthy development and resilience
  • know how to access available community supports
  • develop skills to manage life’s ups and downs and reduce the need for ongoing service intervention

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking an experienced Case Manger to provide intensive case management and parenting education in our Brighter Futures team, based in Casino NSW. As a Case Manager you will enhance child wellbeing and reduce the risk of harm to children in families at increased risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system. If you are passionate about improving the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and families we would like to hear from you.

Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in a social science or related field and/or specialised skills or experience sufficient to perform this role
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
  • Ideally you will have experience in child protection case management.
  • Demonstrated experience in case planning and service delivery to people with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated experience and or understanding of trauma informed care.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in the areas of negotiation, facilitation, mediation and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage a complex workload by way of planning and organisation of priorities.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency including awareness, knowledge and empathy.
