About Monash Health and Ward 44

Ward 44 is a 40 Bed Unit with the main clinical focus being Haematology / Oncology. A number of additional Specialty Medicine Units are also cared for on the ward, such as Dermatology, Endocrinology and Rheumatology. This clinical diversity ensures that ward 44 is an exciting unit.

Monash Health is actively implementing the Cancer Services plan and as part of this the introduction of Cellular Therapies Program is underway. Ward 44 will play and active role in this program and be responsible for the delivery of stem cell transplantation in the immediate future. A collaborative and collegiate Multi-disciplinary team, work closely together to provide care for our patients and their families and the Nurse Manager role is a pivotal leadership role to support us in delivering exceptional care every time.

About the Role

This role represents an excellent opportunity for an engaged, enthusiastic and self-motivated nursing professional to lead and develop a team of up to 80 people caring for patients under Speciality Medicine. The Nurse Manager reports to, and is supported by, the Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) Specialty Medicine.

If you are successful, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including medical, allied health, pharmacy and ward governance professionals as well as our support services and administrative teams.

About You

Your highly developed communication skills will help you to effectively lead, and work within, a vibrant and varied team. Exemplary organisation skills are critical to ensure the competing priorities of the role are effectively managed within our dynamic environment.

With significant nursing experience in Chemotherapy and Cancer Nursing, you are invested in furthering your knowledge to support your frontline clinical team. You lead by example and you thrive working in a fast paced environment. Above all, you are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based nursing care to our patients.

What you need:

  • Significant clinical experience in chemotherapy/cancer nursing who is passionate about leadership and patient centred care
  • A proven track record of effectively leading people to consistently perform to their potential
  • Demonstrated willingness to foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Current AHPRA registration and Australian working rights

Postgraduate studies in management or leadership and membership of a relevant professional nursing association will be highly regarded.
