Family & Children Services Department

Family and Children’s Services brings together a range of services that focus on optimising learning, development, health and family wellbeing outcomes for children and young people from 0-17 years. Services include Early Learning Services (Child Care, Occasional Care and Kindergarten), and Health and Family Wellbeing Services (including Maternal and Child Health, Immunisation and Family Services).

The Opportunity

Working as part of our Planning, Policy and Advocacy unit and reporting directly to the Team Leader Education and Planning, you will have a key focus on building the capacity of early childhood educators to support access and participation for children with additional needs in three and four-year old funded kindergarten programs. This role will also see you providing an outreach model in kindergarten programs of practical advice, support and professional services.

Skills & Experience

• Degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher qualification approved by The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) together with relevant experience in the early childhood field;
• Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering high quality inclusive kindergarten programs;
• Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and experience working with and responding to the diverse needs of children with additional needs and their families;
• Well-developed knowledge of early childhood education and care and specialist education including relevant regulations, guidelines and contemporary frameworks;
• Postgraduate qualification and experience in Special Education desirable; and,
• Current Working With Children Check and Victorian Driver’s Licence.
