Job description:

We are seeking dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our Melbourne team. The position will work in a dynamic environment, providing an integrated and flexible model of care to our participants. This care can involve in-home care, community access and companionship. This role provides experience in direct client care, flexible working hours, an inclusive and vibrant community, training and professional development and a rewarding career. This is a causal position that provides flexible shifts that can work around your schedule. Our base rate is $31 - $36 per hour + superannuation.

Your main duties:

• Provide physical support, which may include helping participants with household tasks, meal preparation and meal assistance.

• Social support, including accompanying participants to appointments, and engaging in social activities.

• Assistance with personal care: showering, grooming and medication assistance.

• Encouraging and supporting the development of a participant’s personal interests through hobbies and community activities.

• Liaising with a team of specialists to assist the participant in following routines and recommendations as part of their therapy.

To be considered you must have the following skills and attributes:

• Caring and compassionate attitude

• Responsible and respectful towards participants, their families and other support workers

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team within a diverse community

• Good organisation and time management skills

• Fluent in English and other languages are welcome

• Previous experience in the community sector or working with people with a disability preferred
