About the Opportunity

In this role you will work closely with the Team Leader Sustainability and Manager Environment and Open Space to implement actions arising from Council’s recently adopted Climate Action Plans covering areas such as solar PV installation, battery installation, energy and water conservation.

You will also focus on community and staff education by developing and delivering environmental and sustainability programs for staff, schools and the community. This will involve designing educational materials for various audiences and managing Council’s Living Mosman social media to promote the events and programs.

You will also be responsible for coordination of State of Environment Report and Living Mosman e-newsletter.

Your day to day work will be varied and fast paced with opportunity to show initiative and add value to projects.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing climate change mitigation measures
  • Work experience in the field of environmental sustainability and/or environmental education
  • Experience in developing and delivering environmental education programs to a variety of audiences including experience or ability to design educational materials
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, data collection and newsletter production
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainability issues on a local, regional and global scale
  • Commitment to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and organisational skills with the ability to work on a multitude of tasks, and meet deadlines

The position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission of Children and Young People Act 1998 and the successful candidate is required to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
