We are looking for a Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Victorian clinics and staff on a full time basis. The role will be responsible for managing our East St Kilda day hospital and East Melbourne medical centre, working with the clinical and support staff to create a safe and non-judgemental experience for our clinics. The successful candidate will be an advocate for de-stigmatising sexual health and someone that could campaign for women and pregnant people’s reproductive rights.

Main responsibilities:

The NUM will lead our clinics to provide safe, high quality patient-centred care, as well as ensure the smooth running of the day to day operations such as rostering, financial planning and budgets, managing clinical risk and ensuring we provide best practice solutions in line with our policies and procedures

  • Leading, empowering and mentoring the nursing/clinical team
  • Monitoring and evaluating clinical practice and service delivery standards
  • Troubleshooting day to day operational and clinical issues
  • Reporting relevant clinic matters to the Head of Clinic and other management personnel as required
  • Driving continuous improvement including the strategising and implementation of new clinical protocols
  • Attaining and maintaining accreditation and regulatory compliance
  • Staff rostering, leave management and authorisation of timesheets
  • Managing the clinic’s operational budget and ensuring services are provided in the most cost effective way

What we look for in a candidate:

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration
  • Fiercely Pro-choice and champion of women and pregnant people’s rights
  • Passionate about de-stigmatising abortion, sexual and reproductive health
  • Knowledge of National Accreditation Standards and ACORN standards
  • Solid experience in leadership role within clinical setting
  • Ability to manage budgets and staffing requirements
  • Experience achieving high clinical standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Leadership skills that promote a positive team culture
  • Active and reflective listening skills with an understanding of how to provide empathetic care
