Role Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a contemporary working knowledge of leading disability practice models (local, state, national and international) as it relates to improving self-advocacy outcomes for individuals with a disability, particularly those with complex needs.
• Establish and maintain empowering functional relationships with Multicap customers, their families and carers
• Provide supports to customers to enable participation in Multicap’s self-advocacy groups
• Provide leadership and role modelling to staff teams to ensure they are effective in delivering support to individuals that promotes the achievement of agreed outcomes.
• Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the organisations practice and outcomes frameworks

About you

• Previous experience of disability advocacy, community development, project coordination or a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
• Positive Notice for Disability Worker Screening and Working with Children Check
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the rights and empowerment of people with a disability.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and to be self-motivated, as well as an ability to work well in a team and contribute to the larger organisation purpose

Mandatory requirement

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to hold or be willing to obtain:

• Disability Worker Screening (Yellow Card),
• Working with Children Check (Blue card),
• NDIS Worker Orientation certificate https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
• and in some circumstances, a National Criminal History check

Attractive Salary packaging including $15,900 packaging limit per FBT year (1 April- 31 March) and $2,550 per year for meals and entertainment expenses.
