Role Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a contemporary working knowledge of leading disability practice models (local, state, national and international) as it relates to improving self-advocacy outcomes for individuals with a disability, particularly those with complex needs.
- Establish and maintain empowering functional relationships with Multicap customers, their families and carers
- Provide supports to customers to enable participation in Multicap’s self-advocacy groups
- Provide leadership and role modelling to staff teams to ensure they are effective in delivering support to individuals that promotes the achievement of agreed outcomes.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the organisations practice and outcomes frameworks
About you
- Previous experience of disability advocacy, community development, project coordination or a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Positive Notice for Disability Worker Screening and Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the rights and empowerment of people with a disability.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and to be self-motivated, as well as an ability to work well in a team and contribute to the larger organisation purpose
Mandatory requirement
Please note that the successful applicant will be required to hold or be willing to obtain:
- Disability Worker Screening (Yellow Card),
- Working with Children Check (Blue card),
- NDIS Worker Orientation certificate https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
- and in some circumstances, a National Criminal History check
