Murray PHN is a part of the national network of Primary Health Networks across Australia. We work closely with the primary health system to identify opportunities to improve health outcomes in our community.

Murray PHN spans the northern Victoria area from Mildura to Woodend and eastward to Wodonga including Albury NSW. Servicing this area are offices and staff located in Albury (North East), Bendigo (Central Victoria), Mildura (North West) and Shepparton (Goulburn Valley) acknowledging that our region crosses many First Nation lands.

About the role:

Murray PHN is very excited to be promoting this new role in addition to our current First Nations Health & Healing team as a further commitment to our reconciliation journey.

The First Nations Health and Healing Coordinator position will provide culturally responsive management to commissioning services and supports, to improve health outcomes and access to primary health care by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Underpinned by the knowledge and experience of First Nations People, this position will also coordinate and evaluate the Murray PHN First Nations Health and Healing strategy, strengthened by the principles of; self-determination, cultural humility, and Indigenous data sovereignty to support improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

A demonstrated working knowledge of Victoria's Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Communities, their cultural values, protocols, and issues as related to accessing the Primary Health sector and key health issues is essential. The successful incumbent will utilise skills and capabilities gained through a qualification in Health, Social Science, Aboriginal Affairs or relevant field or as stipulated in the position description.
