Overview

Music in Exile is a social enterprise aimed at increasing access to resources and building professional networks for artists from a migrant or diaspora background working in the music industry. We aim to use the resources at our disposal to collaborate with artists and share their incredible stories; exploring new pathways for career development and encouraging conversation around the accessibility of our industry.

A project manager at Music in Exile will be required to oversee all stages of a release campaign or creative project, coordinating team members to achieve stated goals, and reviewing outcomes against key performance indicators. A project manager will also be required to communicate with artists regularly, gaining an understanding of their needs, wants and desires, and ensuring this is reflected in the structural nature of the project itself.

Main Duties

  • Communicate with artists and gain an understanding of their perspective, needs, and desires. Maintain this communication throughout the project or campaign, reviewing activity and allowing for adjustments where necessary or requested by the artist.
  • Build these artist goals into a set of SMART goals per campaign, with tangible targets across various performance indicator
  • Develop strategy to achieve these goals across all aspects of a release campaign including but not limited to recording activity, art direction, asset creation, digital strategy, social media, PR, marketing, advertising, relationship building, touring ,etc.
  • Develop and engage advertising campaigns where necessary to achieve goals
  • Analyse data from campaigns and measure KPI’s. Report findings to MIE team regularly and recommend possible strategic development.
  • Participate in once-weekly team meetings and ensure each team member participating in the project has an understanding of their required role and deliverables.
  • Review project goals against key performance indicators and critique successes or failings at periodic stages of a project, inviting feedback from both team members and artists.
  • Deliver project report including an analysis of KPI’s to team and directors upon completion.
  • Where necessary, project manage live events or touring requirements from artists

  • High level of communication and organisation
  • An ability to work as part of team and delegate tasks where necessary
  • An ability to work autonomously and with confident decision making
  • An understanding of our organisation's values and vision, and how project activity feeds into this
  • An ability to break down project goals into daily strategy, with key benchmarks for success; and to review these benchmarks regularly and critique outcomes
  • An ability to develop social and networking skills
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Able to report on outcomes and provide constructive feedback

Offer

  • Full time, 38 hrs per week @ $30/hr + I0% superannuation, working from home
  • 1 x team meeting per week via Zoom, communication via Slack and Asana as necessary
  • 12 month casual employment agreement, starting immediately
