NAAJA is seeking a Managing Civil Solicitor to lead our Civil Law team. This is a fixed-term 12-month contract.

NAAJA’s civil law practice is an extremely busy and diverse one, with practice areas including police accountability, child protection, adult guardianship, consumer, discrimination, tenancy, social security and victims of crime assistance claims.

The key responsibilities of the position are:

1. To lead and supervise a diverse team of legal and non legal staff.
2. To provide high quality legal advice on civil law issues to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
3. In conjunction with other staff, to undertake work aimed at overcoming the disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The right candidate will have:

• 5+ years post-admission experience
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills
• Substantial practice experience in civil law
• Excellent communication skills, including in cross-cultural settings

The position offers attractive employment benefits including:

• Salary of EO3.1 $142,377 to EO3.4 $158,134 per annum (dependent on experience) plus superannuation
