We are the national peak body for the community legal sector across Australia. We work to ensure free and accessible legal and related services to everyday people. In addition we advocate for law reform and justice for people facing discrimination and disadvantage across Australia.

Our organisations represent more than 170 community legal centres, Family Violence Prevention Legal Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services across Australia.

About the Role

It is an exciting time at CLCs Australia. We are looking for a passionate communications manager who can assist us with our new national campaign, new website and who can work collaboratively with our peak bodies and networks. Our Communications Manager works across our advocacy, campaigns, sector and engagement strategies.

The role is broad in nature and requires someone who can work independently as well as with motivated colleagues to deliver communications across multiple projects and teams.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the creation of campaign and advocacy communications
  • Drafting publications and regular e-news/updates/communications
  • Management of our online and social channels
  • Development of our new website
  • Media relations
  • Communications strategy and monitoring
  • Analytics and reporting
  • Crisis or responsive communications

Salary range: $97-$101k depending on experience with salary packaging available. Full or part time (4 days) considered.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in a field related to journalism, media, communications, public relations or politics, or comparable experience (minimum five years’ experience in a similar role)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven record of achievement in developing, implementing and evaluating communication strategies and engagement activities across a variety of stakeholders
  • Established network of media contacts and relationships
  • Digital competency including using Microsoft 365, websites, social media, CMS CRMs and bulk email software.
  • Understanding of, or experience in the community legal sector.
  • Committed to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace and to working cooperatively and respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.
  • Self-motivated, driven, flexible, adaptable, team orientated
  • Practical and solutions-focused with a well-developed sense of urgency and prioritisation skills.
