Northern Australian Primary Health Limited (NAPHL) is a not for profit organisation passionate about the people in the North and Far North Queensland to improve their health and wellbeing.

On behalf of BHP, NAPHL will be providing outreach services to the ISAAC region, Whitsundays and Sarina.

NAPHL is seeking a flexible, values orientated, dedicated and passionate Mental Health Clinician who loves working with a diverse client base and doesn’t mind to travel for work.

This role is located in Mackay.

The Role

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will:

  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutical services;
  • Provide support to the mental health leadership team in the monitoring and development of quality improvement;
  • Provide clinical outreach services to those in regional locations as required including but not limited to, ISAAC region, Whitsundays and Sarina; and
  • Adhere to ethical and professional guidelines as per professional code of conduct

To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • Current Full professional registration with AHPRA or APS (Mental Health Endorsed), or for Social Workers, member of the AASW.
  • Possess a Medicare Provider Number or ability to acquire.
  • Proven recent clinical experience and competence undertaking biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments and providing focused psychological strategies.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of ethical issues which are specific to working with adults, children, and families alike (particularly regarding issues of consent, confidentiality, mandatory notifications, legal and mandatory report of abuse, and managing risk).
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability in developing, implementing and evaluating programs or initiatives according to timelines, desired outcomes within a budget.
  • Ability to travel.

Desirable:

  • Endorsement with College of Clinical Psychologists.
  • Experience working in crisis situations and conducting risk assessments.
  • Psychology Board Approved Supervisor.
