The Building Strong Foundations (BSF) Program aims to maintain, improve and promote the optimal health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children (0 – 5 years), their families and communities achieved through the establishment of a culturally appropriate service. This requires the ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with clients and members of the Aboriginal Community and a willingness and ability to participate in community consultation and community development opportunities in accordance with the BSF Service Standards.
As a high quality, Social Work service we provide comprehensive assessments, case management and a range of brief therapeutic interventions for clients of the Penrith Building Strong Foundations and Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service.
We're seeking applications from committed and dynamic mental health professionals who are keen to contribute to the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting on Child and Family Health Service including Building Strong Foundations and the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service.
Being female is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW). This role will see you capitalise on your flair for communication (verbal & written), computer skills and time management as you work autonomously with minimal direct supervision. Ideally, you will be committed and dynamic mental health professional, with who brings extensive experience in the provision of clinical services with a complex caseload, counselling and practice skills. Additionally, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding working with domestic violence, post-natal depression, child protection issues, low-risk suicide and child development
This opportunity would suit a tertiary qualified Social Worker (eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers) who is a female that has experience working with people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and come from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. It is essential that the successful applicant has a high level of cultural competence and experience working with Aboriginal communities.
