Neami National has partnered with the Larrakia Nation to deliver a new Head to Health Centre in Darwin, Northern Territory.

The Centre will provide a holistic approach to care, addressing a range of social, physical and emotional needs informed by the Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM) and supported by best practice in evidence-based and evidence informed care. The Centre adheres to the principles of the Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Declaration and will work with our partners the Larrakia Nation in the development and delivery of services to ensure culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Centre Team will be made up of Clinicians and non-clinical staff providing Social and Emotional Wellbeing Supports, Psychosocial Support and Peer Support. The centre will provide short to medium term targeted care and support for adults experiencing a crisis or in significant distress and provide in house assessment, including information and support to access services.

About the role:

  • Work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver a range of services to adults experiencing emotional distress, crises, mental ill health and/or addiction, and to their families, support people and carers through a “no wrong door approach”
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions using established evidence-based techniques, adapted to clients needs
  • You will have the ability to be with people when they are distressed, the ability to listen compassionately and to support people to identify and act upon solutions that may improve their wellbeing
  • Part Time (0.7FTE – 0.8FTE), Maximum Term contract until 30 June 2023
  • 7 day a week shift work including morning, evening and weekend shifts
  • Individual Employment Agreement up to $76,192 per annum pro rata, will be dependent on experience
  • Located at the Head to Health Centre in Casaurina, Darwin, Northern Territory

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent (this is an identified position)
  • Possess a Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or working towards this qualification or equivalent
  • Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or working towards
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cultural knowledge and advice to team members
  • Criminal record check required before commencement of employment (some disclosable items may be considered)
  • Valid Northern Territory Driver’s licence
