About the Role

  • Part Time (0.9 FTE)
  • Salary range 79k – 89k + super + salary packaging + other employee benefits!
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2022 (with high potential of extension)
  • Various locations based within the Inner East, Outer East and Northern Metropolitan Melbourne Region
  • Monday to Friday hours, some after hours and weekend work as required.
  • May be required to use own vehicle at times

Neami National has been commissioned by the Eastern Melbourne PHN to deliver suicide prevention services and activities. The program provides direct support to people postvention (bereavement counselling) and a suite of capacity building activities including group therapy, training and community debriefing.

Core duties

  • Provide individual clinical interventions including counselling and community debriefing
  • Provide evidence-based training and capacity building workshops to key stakeholders
  • Facilitate wellbeing programs for at-risk groups
  • Have a shared responsibility for overseeing the referral and intake process
  • Provide clinical consultation to other members of our team
  • Work with community partners

What will you bring to the role?

  • Understanding of key issues affecting clients in the community experiencing bereavement, grief and poor mental health
  • Demonstrated skills in the provision of high-quality assessments and interventions to resolve/ameliorate emotional distress of consumers
  • Ability to effectively perform in an environment of change, to be creative when problem solving and work to timelines
  • Understanding of issues relevant to people impacted by suicide living in the community and a strong commitment to consumer rights and participation in their community
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating groups
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of trauma informed care

Mandatory requirements

  • Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (or have received one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their second dose.)
  • Candidates will be required to provide appropriate evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to Neami National
  • Essential: Have a background in and be registered as an Occupational Therapist or Social Worker (i.e. AHPRA and AASW)
  • Mental health accreditation would be highly regarded
  • Current Victorian Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Comprehensively insured motor vehicle for work purposes
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • A Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme Check will be undertaken prior to commencement
