  • 64,363 - $69,031 p.a (pro rata) + Super + Salary Packaging + Employee benefits

Wadamba Wilam is based at Fairfield and consists of a Service Manager (Neami), Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing worker (VAHS), Psychiatric nurse (Northern Area Mental Health Service), an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) clinician (Uniting Care/ReGen), two Community Rehabilitation Support Worker (Neami) and a part time consultant psychiatrist (NAMHS). The team offers a holistic, Social and Emotional Wellbeing focused intensive outreach service for Aboriginal people over 16 years of age, in the municipalities of Darebin and Whittlesea who experience severe and enduring mental illness and homelessness.

Core duties

  • Provide practical support to consumers to improve daily living skills and maintain their tenancy
  • Conduct outreach to consumers experiencing homelessness
  • Promote individual goals, strengths, choice and empowerment
  • Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships

What will you bring to the role?

  • The successful applicant will be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander decent
  • Bring cultural knowledge to support consumers and the team
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the homelessness system
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Knowledge of the recovery model

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Insured, registered vehicle for work use if required
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Disability Worker’s Exclusion check (DWES) conducted by Neami
