About the Role

  • Full Time (Part Time 0.8 FTE considered) positions
  • Maximum Term contract until 30 June 2022 (strong possibility of extension)
  • $74,253 - $79,890 p.a, pro rata + Super + Salary packaging + Employee Benefits!
  • Based at Neami Fairfield and/or working mobile with approval

The project is a time limited initiative which assists people experiencing psychosocial distress and mental ill health due to the COVID-19 physical distancing and isolation measures, including those who are required to self-isolate for whatever reason. This includes people with lived experience of mental illness, as well as those experiencing poor psychosocial health for the first time due to the impacts of COVID-19.

The Intake Assessment Lived Experience Worker will be someone who has a lived experience of mental illness and will provide support specific to their lived experience group:

- Lived Experience Worker - Carer

- Lived Experience Worker - Veteran consumers

- Lived Experience Worker - General

Core duties

  • Receive requests, assess and provide appropriate support and advice related to the specific lived experience group; including referrals from Beyond Blue, Lifeline and Suicide Line Victoria.
  • Manage, support and review a caseload, including waiting list management intervention
  • Perform risk assessments (including referral to crisis intervention services, where necessary).
  • Maintain accurate individual consumer files and data bases (Carelink)
  • Facilitation of small group wellbeing programs (as required)

  • Essential - Lived experience of mental health and a recovery journey
  • Ability to establish rapport and develop respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff and partner organisations
  • Have a high level of energy, enthusiasm and flexibility, along with a commitment to team work
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively while managing a range of tasks
  • Ability to maintain a hopeful and positive outlook even during challenging times at work
  • Strong communication skills

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • A Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme Check will be undertaken prior to commencement
