About the Role

  • Part Time
  • CSD Level 2: From $64,363 - $69,031 pa pro rata depending on skills and experience
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2022

Peer Support Workers are integral members of the team and draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery. You must have a lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery. You must be willing to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery.

What we are looking for:

  • Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery
  • A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery
  • Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff and organisations.
  • A willingness to engage one on one in community with people who have a criminal history.
  • Experience of the public or private mental health system
  • You must have an appropriate length of time in recovery to be able to effectively and safely conduct the peer support worker role, and a willingness to continue to engage in recovery supports where appropriate.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Police check – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Blue Card prior to commencement (employee responsibility)
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers license
