About the Role:

  • Part Time, 3 days per week (0.6FTE)
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2023
  • Based in Liverpool

Peer Support Workers are integral members of the team and draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery. You must have a lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery. You must be willing to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery.

You will work collaboratively in planning and co-facilitating a peer group based on the self-development program known as Flourish. The Peer Support Worker may also assist new consumers in their entry into the service and in providing individual support to consumers focusing on their strengths to achieve identified goals.

What you will need:

  • Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery
  • A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery
  • Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff and organisations
  • Experience of group work, ideally as a facilitator
  • Experience of the public or private mental health system
  • You must have an appropriate length of time in recovery to be able to effectively and safely conduct the peer support worker role, and a willingness to continue to engage in recovery supports where appropriate
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
