The Neami Research, Engagement and Advocacy team oversees strategic development, research and evaluation, tenders and submissions, program design, consumer participation and advocacy and engagement. A key function of the Research, Engagement and Advocacy team is to ensure the organisation has the capacity and resources required to adapt and respond in a changing environment. A critical aspect of this is enhancing the capability of the organisation to implement evidence-based practice through a range of innovative projects.

The Position

The Policy Analyst provides quality and timely advice and responses to emerging issues in mental health, suicide prevention, housing and homelessness nationally. This will include:

  • Researching and briefing Neami leaders on existing and emergent policy issues
  • Engaging with other organisations and stakeholders to inform policy responses
  • Coordinating and preparing reports, policy submissions, policy papers, and other publications
  • Contributing to engagement activities including workshops, webinars, or consultations with Neami stakeholders; representing Neami National on local, state and national committees to advocate on relevant issues.

This will involve working on project teams and steering groups of relevant internal and external stakeholders, developing project plans, reports, frameworks and practice guides to ensure national alignment with strategic priorities and appropriate resource allocation and oversight. It will also involve investigating theories of change to deliver projects most effectively by drawing on proven design methods.

About you:

  • Prior experience in a policy role (ideally mental health, homelessness or related area), with strengths in policy writing, analysis and development
  • Highly developed research and analysis skills with demonstrated ability to identify key issues relevant to the Neami National operations and strategy
  • A sound understanding of the current and emerging policy and funding landscape in mental health, homelessness and suicide prevention, nationally and within different state and territory jurisdictions
  • Tertiary qualification in Public Health, Public Policy, Health Science, Social Science or other related field
  • Current Working with Children Check
