ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Lawyer sits within the Governance and Assurance Network and provides high quality strategic legal advice.

We are looking for a person who can write clearly and think strategically and who has the skills to use the law to challenge assumptions about the way things ‘have been done’

The work our team is involved in also informs our cross-jurisdictional policy and sector reform work.

The Senior Lawyer role will also provide mentoring and support to other people within the team and support to the General Counsel.

In this Full time or Part time (minimum 0.8FTE) ongoing role, you will:

ABOUT YOU

You are a driven, motivated self-starter who has the ability to work autonomously to deliver results that exceed the client's expectations.

You have high attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people quickly.

Key to your success is your:

  • proficiency and confidence in conducting legal research and providing advice in a broad range of areas
  • excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • strong understanding of the Privacy Act, the Australian Privacy Principles and information consent laws across multiple jurisdictions and/or and intersecting jurisdictions
  • well-developed project and task management skills
  • excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to tailor their communications to their audience cognizant of the technicality, simplicity or brevity required.
  • Computer proficiency – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Trello, Legal Tech.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The following qualifications and experience is required for the position:

  • Current legal practicing certificate
  • At least four years post qualification experience
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently
