Opportunity for a skilled and motivated Network Coordinator to support, strengthen and advocate for Neighbourhood Houses in the Barwon Region (covering the local government areas of City of Greater Geelong, Surfcoast Shire, Colac Otway Shire and the Borough of Queenscliffe).

Operating within a community development framework Neighbourhood Houses Barwon is a small Not for Profit supporting 24 member Neighbourhood Houses.

The position provides flexible working arrangements and attractive salary.

Role of the Network Coordinator

The work is varied, flexible and responsive to the requirements of member houses and the broader sector. The Network Coordinator is responsible for implementing NHBarwon’s strategic directions, complying with service agreements, managing day to day operations, supporting and resourcing the membership, working with key stakeholders, and promoting the Neighbourhood House sector

Hours

20 hrs per week – part time and ongoing subject to funding

*This substantive position is 20hrs pw, however there is a funded project “Governance” which will require 10hrs pw through out 2022. This project work could be available to an applicant with the appropriate skills and experience. (Please see addendum to the PD for more information)

Classification

Neighbourhood House Collective Agreement (NHACE) 2018 Level 7 Year depends on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work or related discipline with a minimum 5 years’ experience in community development or related field.

Location

Currently the office is based at the Grovedale Neighbourhood House, Heyers Road, with travel throughout the Barwon Region.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience – Key selection criteria

Management: Demonstrated experience in an organisational management role, especially in working with and managing teams in a not-for-profit work environment.

Community development: Demonstrated understanding and commitment to community development principles and how they are applied, preferably within the Neighbourhood House sector

Partnerships and Networks: Demonstrated skills and experience working with key stakeholders to identify and respond to gaps and issues, especially those affecting member communities in the Barwon Region.

Advocacy: High level interpersonal skills, including sound conflict resolution and negotiation acumen, and the ability to mobilise stakeholders to work in partnership on key issues.

Governance: Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of governance in a not for profit organisational context. Proven experience working with and resourcing a volunteer constituted Committee of Governance.

Financial: Demonstrated financial management experience and skills, including developing budgets, monitoring expenditure against budgets and adhering to funding guidelines.

Communication: Highly developed written and oral communication and computer

Analytical and Problem Solving: Proven ability to identify and analyse problems/situations and identify a range of options and viable solutions.

*Additional Skills for Governance Project

Project management – Demonstrated skills and experience in managing time limited projects, including the ability to engage stakeholders, maintain momentum, monitor progress and ensure the delivery of quality outcomes in a timely manner.

Time management - Proven ability to use time effectively and competently manage competing demands, assorted timelines and set deadlines.

Essential Requirement:

Current Working with Children Check and Police Check or willingness to undertake upon employment

Possess a current driver's license and have access to a vehicle that is comprehensively insured
