The Organisation

Suicide Prevention Australia is the national peak body for the suicide prevention sector. It is a member-based organisation that’s guided by people with lived experience of suicide, counting amongst its members the largest and many of the smallest organisations working in suicide prevention, practitioners, researchers and community leaders.

Suicide Prevention Australia exists to provide a clear, collective voice for suicide prevention so that together lives can be saved and, through collaboration and shared purpose, works towards the ambition of a world without suicide.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Media Relations, this role focuses on supporting both the membership and communication functions by overseeing the implementation of the communication’s strategy, ensuring consistency of message and will be responsible for:

  • Develop marketing and campaign plans to promote events and drive registrations
  • Create quality social media content and use analytical tools to monitor reach and outcomes
  • Lead the membership communications engagement strategy, including online community management
  • Support the development of the brand and communications strategy across the continuing education and learning hub
  • Alongside the Public Affairs Manager, expand media relations and track coverage relating to specific projects

Skills Required

You will be a skilled communications or marketing professional with an understanding of the not for profit sector, and be able to combine strategic, creative and analytical thinking, and also demonstrate:

  • Advanced writing skills and excellent verbal communication
  • Strong creative abilities with a design flair
  • Developed decision making skills and thoughtful judgment
  • Experience managing projects and working to deadlines
  • Relevant qualifications in marketing or communications
  • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience in a similar role or industry
