The Organisation

Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) is a children’s services organisation that has been providing high quality and inclusive early learning and care for children, families and communities for 23 years. With over 60 kindergartens and childcare centres ECMS influences the lives of 6,500 children across Victoria each week. Every ECMS kindergarten and childcare centre is designed to reflect the needs of its local community and families, ensuring that children thrive in life.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, this role leads the development and maintenance of the collective risk strategy in a collaborative effort to ensure ECMS is a child safe organisation.

This role is instrumental in an ambitious change agenda that will enable teams to achieve greater impact through improved systems, processes and cultural change. You will have overall accountability for the management and implementation of effective user orientated compliance systems and processes to ensure standards and organisational objectives are met.

Specifically you will:

  • Lead, manage, guide and support the organisation to develop a risk culture that underpins organisational health and success
  • Monitor organisational risk and compliance performance against strategic objectives
  • Implement robust systems, policies and procedures to improve efficiency, ensure compliance and manage incident reporting
  • Manage the process to identify risks and mitigate them within the risk appetite and tolerance of the board.

Skills Required

In addition to a successful career in risk and compliance, you will have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of risk management systems in multi-site environments.

You can exhibit:

  • Knowledge of operational risk principles and methods to engage and transform a risk culture
  • Experience developing highly functional teams, translating values into tangible behaviours
  • Experience in creating a tailored approach to risk for different levels of an organisation
  • Ability to deliver multiple priorities and experience planning and implementing change initiatives
  • A learning orientation with demonstrable examples of reflective practice and growth of yourself and others
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement skills and experience working with both executive teams and boards.
