The Organisation

For 30 years Canteen has been supporting young cancer patients, young people dealing with the grief of losing a loved one, and young people who have a sibling or parent with cancer. In addition to a range of support programs, Canteen provides specialist, youth-specific treatment and clinical trials programs.

Canteen works by having young people at the centre of everything they do. Initially established by a group of young cancer patients in 1985, the organisation continues in the mission to truly understand how cancer is different in a young person’s world through their leading edge research into the emotional and social impacts of cancer.

The Role

You will oversee and support a national team of State and Online Managers in their delivery of high quality client services. You will engage, mentor and motivate these managers in their development and increase their skill set and confidence to build influential relationships across public and primary health, community and corporate sector stakeholders. With a focus on coaching you will ensure:

  • Oversight of operational plans, KPIs, referral numbers and best practice service delivery
  • HR, recruitment and performance management support
  • Collaboration between internal teams to effect consistent clinical practice, seamless implementation of new initiatives and programs, and financial targets

Skills Required

With a leadership background in health, education or the community sector, you have a track record developing and implementing strategic relationship frameworks, with proven success measurable by the outcomes you’ve delivered.

You have a management style that ensures a team culture of performance, collaboration and respect, and your coaching methods facilitate an environment that is participatory, supportive and provides constructive feedback. You can also demonstrate:

  • Familiarity and understanding of the primary health network landscape
  • Strategic acumen & operational management of service delivery or supportive care teams
  • Sophisticated stakeholder development skills with service, sector & funding partners
  • Success coaching, mentoring and teaching individuals how to be strategic
  • Tertiary qualifications in an allied health or relevant discipline
