Located in the Numbulwar Community on the mouth of the Rose River in South Eastern Arnhem Land of the Northern Territory, this position is responsible for coordinating the Numbulwar Numburindi Ranger Group in advancing the objectives of the Traditional Owners in managing their land and sea country within the South East Arnhem Land Indigenous Protected Area.

In consultation with Traditional Owners, you will develop and implement annual work plans, and provide day to day planning, supervision and logistical support to the rangers to ensure their effective and efficient management of caring for country activities. Applicants should possess a sound knowledge of Aboriginal Caring for Country management opportunities and constraints, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage work teams in remote locations.

The successful applicant will have tertiary qualifications in either land management, natural resource management or community development, or extensive related experience working with Aboriginal communities on cultural, land and resource management activities and projects, from planning through to implementation.

Good communication, negotiation and community consultation skills, with computer experience and the ability to manage budgets and produce reports within required deadlines is essential.

Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people is required, as is possession of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence and ability to safely drive 4WD drive vehicles.
