This position is responsible for coordinating the Garawa and Waanyi Garawa Ranger Groups and supporting the Aboriginal landowners and managers across the Borroloola/Barkly region to maximise their participation in land and sea management activities, from planning through to implementation and review.

Applicants should possess a sound knowledge of Aboriginal Caring for Country management opportunities and constraints, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop work teams in two remote locations, and experience coordinating resource management projects. This role will be supervising both male and female rangers, and women are encouraged to apply.

Good communication, negotiation and report writing skills, with tertiary qualifications in natural resource management or a social science, community development, public policy or related discipline, or extensive relevant experience are essential.

A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures and issues with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people is required.

Significant travel to remote areas using 4WD vehicles is involved, so possession of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence and ability to safely drive 4WD drive vehicles is essential.
