About the Office

This role sits within the Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience portfolio which includes Student Success, Indigenous Education, Chaplaincy, Libraries, and Student Life and Wellbeing. 

About the role 

This position reports to the Deputy Director, Student Wellbeing (Sydney) and supports students with a disability to participate in their education on the same basis as other students. The position assists the University to meet its legal obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992), the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and the University’s Policy: Students with a Disability.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine the support needs of students with disabilities, medical conditions and mental health conditions so students can participate equitably in their study program.
• Develop and maintain Learning Access Plans which recommend reasonable adjustments to facilitate the participation of students with disabilities in education programs, on the same basis as other students.
• Build and sustain strong partnerships with relevant business units and academic teaching staff to support student learning needs.
• Identify continuous improvement of practices, operational processes and reporting while identifying broader organisational impacts in relation to strategic planning, development and implementation of services.
• Maintain confidentiality and keep abreast of relevant legislation.
• Other duties as identified by the Deputy Director, Student Wellbeing (Sydney).
• Comply with University policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.

Selection Criteria

Essential

• Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
• Relevant degree qualifications, with extensive relevant experience in a similar role in the University sector and an excellent understanding of the current issues and trends within education and challenges facing universities.
• Ability to demonstrate and provide professional specialised expertise, with ability to effectively understand and apply policies, procedures and legislative standards. 
• Demonstrated ability to apply high level interpersonal, customer service and communication skills (both oral and written), including an ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. 
• Deliver services on a broad range of issues, demonstrating confidentiality, ethical and professional evidence-based support. 
• Effective time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, solve problems, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary issues in the higher education sector. 
• Sensitivity to and recognition of dealing with confidential information

• Knowledge and experience in using the software ‘Access” by Simplicity
