At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – Walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku Service is a domestic and family violence support and advocacy service for Aboriginal women and children living in the NPY region. The service is informed by a holistic relational understanding of violence that acknowledges the key role of family and community relationships in working effectively with indigenous clients.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are now recruiting for a Community Program Coordinator to join the DFVS team.

The Community Program Coordinator (CPC) leads a dynamic multi-disciplinary team within the DFVS. The role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of the community program aspect of the DFV service model. This includes community and stakeholder engagement including education programs, and community development initiatives. This position will also participate in the leadership group within the service so experience in managing people and collaborating with peers on projects and strategic initiatives would be desirable.

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed framework and have the opportunity to learn community development and intercultural liaison from highly skilled, experienced professionals.

We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice clinical supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma and case management training along with critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, additional superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 6 weeks of annual leave, 3 weeks of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal person will have knowledge and previous experience working in Domestic and Family Violence, a relevant qualification such as Social Work, Community Development or Leadership and an interest in working for a community service organisation.

Ideally, you will also have knowledge or an interest in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cross-cultural environments.
