Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Disability Project Officer to join our Tjungu Team on a Fixed-Term basis, based in Alice Springs. The Tjungu Team provides support, advocacy and case management to people with disabilities, elderly people, and their carers and families.
The Disability Project Officer works in a malparara (side-by-side) partnership with an Anangu / Yarnangu Aboriginal Disability Project Officer. This Service aims to increase the independence and participation of people with disabilities in community life.
The ideal applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in disability, human services or community development. Experience and qualifications in Early Childhood is also essential.

You will work within a supportive, trauma-informed framework and we provide a comprehensive culturally aware orientation program. You will receive best practice clinical supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.
In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days (pro-rata) of annual leave and 15 days (pro-rata) of personal leave. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
