North Queensland Combined Women's Services Inc. also known as The Women's Centre, comprises the Townsville Sexual Assault Support Service, a Specialist Homelessness Service and Women’s Health Service that provides counselling and group therapy, support, information and referral, for women the age of 12 and above experiencing emotional and psychological distress and trauma.

Applications are now invited from tertiary qualified women for the full-time temporary position of Sexual Assault Support Counsellor. The role will be for at least 7 months with the potential for extension.

Suitable applicants require social science, or social work qualifications, skills and experience in the areas of sexual assault and domestic and family violence, counselling, mental health, advocacy and referral. It is a requirement of this position to participate in our 24-hour on-call roster as a part of a Sexual Assault Response Team.

Employment is commensurate with experience and qualifications under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, 2010.

The remuneration package: 15 days personal leave, above award annual leave and salary sacrifice option is relative to qualifications and experience at either Level 4 or Level 5 of the SCHCADS Award 2010.

It is a genuine occupational requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted by, and arguable under Sections 25, 104 and 105 of The Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
