The National Rural Health Alliance Ltd (The Alliance) is Australia's peak representative and advocacy body for rural, regional and remote health. The Alliance works closely with 50 member organisations to advocate for better health outcomes for people living in rural Australia.
About the position
The Digital Communications & Content Officer works closely with the Manager, Strategic Partnerships, Communications and Events (MSPCE) and other members of the Communications, Engagement and Events team to promote the work of the Alliance to key stakeholders and the public through digital channels.
The Digital Communications & Content Officer is responsible for content development and implementation across all digital communications channels. The focus of the position is to enhance the Alliance’s online presence through creating and evaluating digital communications campaigns to drive the strategic objectives of the organisation.
Position responsibilities
Communications strategy:
- Assist the MSPCE in the development of a comprehensive communications strategy to support Alliance strategic communications objectives.
- Develop and implement targeted digital communications plans to support policy, advocacy, and event management.
Digital communications:
- Create and source compelling content for the Alliance’s website, Partyline and social media channels, informed by data and market analysis, to drive the strategic objectives of the Alliance.
- In collaboration with the MSPCE, develop a social media strategy to increase engagement on Alliance platforms.
- Social media content generation may include taking photos, creating videos (long and short form), creating graphics, conducting interviews, or recording and editing a podcast, to name a few.
- Coordinate the Alliance’s social media presence, including scheduling posts, interacting with audiences and finding new audiences. Create a content calendar for social media engagement using Monday.com.
- Ensure consistent and effective branding of the Alliance across all digital platforms, maintaining brand guidelines and visual identity.
- Track metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of media outreach efforts and make data-driven improvements. Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of digital communication activities, including in Board and Council reports, and external contractual reporting. Ensure content is tested and optimised to achieve maximum engagement.
- Manage the publication of the Alliance’s quarterly newsletter, Partyline, including sourcing external articles and creating in-house content.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or evidence to prove you are working toward a relevant qualification.
- 3+ years’ experience in a role that involved creating content for digital marketing/communications.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, website and email communications. Demonstrated experience of using Wordpress.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluation of digital communications using market insights and data analysis. Experience with Meta Business Suite and social media analytics. Experience with Google analytics programs.
- Demonstrated high-level writing skills including writing/editing copy, in plain English for a range of audiences, that promotes the strategic direction of a small not-for-profit organisation.
- Interpersonal and oral communication skills with proven ability to work as a member of a small team, as well as with other external organisations and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Knowledge and understanding of policies and issues relevant to rural and remote health in Australia.
- Excellent organisational skills, demonstrated ability to work flexibly, independently and within a team environment, to plan and prioritise work flow to meet deadlines and deliver high quality outcomes.
Desirable:
- Experience with Canva, Photoshop and video editing software programs.
- Lived experience of working and living in an Australian rural or remote community.
