The role of Senior Programs Officer will operate within the Program Implementation Team who facilitates eight (8) programs at present including LALC specific programs, community benefits schemes, an educational scholarship and programs in partnership with Government.

This role will offer you the opportunity to use your professional skills and expertise to make a real difference to supporting NSWALC’s strategic agenda by:

  • Managing and overseeing all aspects of program and project planning, development and implementation for a range of programs and projects, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, meeting reporting requirements, and supporting program and project-related activities, to ensure program outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established program and project management methodology.
  • Establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure program and project deliverables are met. This includes representing NSWALC at key meetings and on Steering Committees, as required.
  • Monitoring and evaluating all aspects of program and project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, program and project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess program and project progress and effectiveness, and achieve program and project outcomes.
  • Providing advice and information to stakeholders on emerging program and project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project and priorities.
  • Acting in accordance with NSWALC people policies and procedures, including WHS obligations at all times applying high standards of probity and ethical behaviour.

Success Profile:

  • Knowledge of the cultural practices and values, as well as the social and economic needs of Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal people and communities applying cultural, social and ethical understandings to the decision-making protocols and complex issues faced by Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Advanced demonstrated knowledge, experience and application of project management principles across programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and deal tactfully and effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and relationship management skills.
  • Well-developed organisation, planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and people management skills.
  • Integrity and commitment to Ethical Practice, Equity, Diversity and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Aboriginality

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or proven experience in program/project management or business.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal communities and/or organisations.
