About the Opportunity

Rural Workforce Agency NT (RWA NT), a branch within NT PHN, provide recruitment, retention and education support to the primary health care workforce in the NT. RWANT supports Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and private practices delivering primary health care. Recruiting health professionals to deliver services to remote Aboriginal communities is the highest priority for the branch. In addition, a focus area of the team is the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce.

Reporting to the Health Workforce Policy and Strategy Lead, the Health Workforce Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities that support the workforce policy and strategy function including, project support, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and secretariat support.

About You

Reporting to the Workforce Access Team Lead – Workforce Access, the role is accountable for:

Role Specific:

  • Scope, collate and summarise evidence to assist with the development of briefs and policy submissions that are relevant to NT PHN’s strategic priorities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders, to ensure the NT workforce and health sector needs are considered in local and national workforce policy development and policy changes
  • Represent NT PHN and the broader NT health sector in consultations on workforce policy development/review and strategic planning, including the development of key strategic documents and position papers
  • Work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a high-performing team including partnership with the workforce planning and needs assessment functions to maintain an understanding of contemporary workforce needs in the NT and, to identify and progress relevant policy, advocacy and strategic actions
  • Support the design, development and delivery of key workforce projects and programs to support the workforce branch in achieving operational and strategic goals
  • Understand the strategic priorities, core business, funding deliverables and requirements of NT PHN, and ensuring policy and project activities are aligned
  • Support the development of strategies, policies and plans and implement risk mitigation actions where required
  • Collect data to facilitate reporting and evaluation functions of the team
