Northern Territory PHN leads the development and coordination of an equitable, comprehensive primary health care system and an engaged health workforce driven by community needs.

About the Opportunity

This role is responsible for providing training and support to General Practitioners (GPs) and other clinicians on using, implementing, and embedding the Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) tool for patients presenting for mental health assistance. This will also include the coordination and implementation of the National IAR Guidance at the regional level.

The role will also enable the PHN to support appropriate assessment, referral and service navigation for people with or at risk of mental illness and/or suicide, through the maintenance of and training in effective and efficient initial assessment and referral systems, including rediCASE.

What you will bring to the role

If you have the following skills and experience, we’d love to chat:

  • Background and tertiary qualifications and experience in the delivery of mental health services or other related discipline is desirable.
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of the mental health and alcohol and other drug treatment service sectors, in particular primary care, and interconnecting other health and human service systems.
  • Excellent presentation, oral, public speaking, and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, write and deliver presentations, reports and external communications.
  • Excellent engagement skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients, partners and stakeholders including General Practice, Local Hospital Networks, non-government organisations, and clinicians.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Northern Territory health service sector.
