• Casual role, SCHCADS Level 3.1 ($42.55/hour)

Are you confident to talk to people who inject/use drugs? Interested in helping people who may be living with hepatitis C and other blood borne viruses such as hepatitis B and HIV? This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic organisation in an exciting and challenging role. This role would suit someone with a background in community engagement, ideally within peer organisations as a worker or volunteer, and has sound knowledge of harm reduction principles.

ORGANISATION

NSW Users and AIDS Association (NUAA), a peer-based drug user organisation. We work with people who use or have used drugs and people who are engaging with health services. TASKS

• Travel throughout NSW as agreed to deliver and distribute injecting equipment through established networks in line with the NSW Needle and Syringe Programs Guidelines
• Support Key Peer Educators and Volunteers across NSW, with assistance from senior employees within the scope of the program
• Engage with individuals accessing the Outreach service under a Harm Reduction framework
• Promote NUAA and its services to service providers and pharmacies in local areas where NUAA outreach occurs
• Work with senior employees and our partners such as LHDs to develop new networks
• Participate as an active member of NUAAs personnel
• Provide support to NUAA's other areas of work as required or as requested by senior staff

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

• Demonstrated understanding of the intersection issues facing people who use and or/inject drugs
• Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to problem solve
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Ability to build relationships with a variety of community and other stakeholders
• Experience planning and implementing projects
• Drug use knowledge and experience on some level
• Work to deliver NUAA's strategic aims and program/project goals, under our Code of Conduct
• NSW Driver licence
