About the role:

An experienced Parks and Gardens worker with an eye for detail is being sought by Nundah Co-op’s 'Youth Co-op' and Gardening Teams, who maintain a number of high profile public green spaces.

The ideal candidate will have a kind and cooperative way of working with others and have experience in horticulture including scheduled maintenance of planted gardens, lawns and green walls. Experience competently operating ride on mowers and hand operated tools will be highly regarded. Valuing the inclusion of colleagues with disabilities or from refugee backgrounds is a must.

The Nundah Co-op is an award-winning social enterprise based in North East Brisbane. We generate employment for our Co-op members, some of whom have disabilities. We run several small businesses dedicated to employing people from disadvantaged backgrounds in supportive and flexible work environment.

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in Parks and Gardens Maintenance using plant and equipment such as zero turn mowers, line trimmers and mechanical edgers
  • Ability to work alongside others, communicate in an effective and empathetic manner and be a supportive, proactive team player.
  • Hold a current Class “C” drivers licence and have experience towing and reversing trailers.
  • Current ACDC licence or openness to apply for one. Able to apply herbicides as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Commitment to a work environment and culture inclusive of diversity and disability and able to demonstrate this through personal or life experience
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with work health and safety system
  • Cert 11 in horticulture or equivalent experience.
  • Openness to working Saturday mornings (1-2 times per month).
  • Flexible hours dependent on work requirements. Typical day starts at 6:30 am and ends at 2:00 pm.
