The National Women’s Alliances (the Alliances) are funded by the Australian Government to ensure diverse women’s voices are heard in the policy making process. Alliances advocate for the economic security, safety and leadership opportunities of women in Australia and collaborate with policymakers to inform Australian Government policies that impact women. Six specialist women’s alliances are funded through the Prime Minister and Cabinet Women’s Leadership and Development Program:
The newly formed National Women’s Safety Alliance (NWSA) will bring together a diversity of voices, expertise and experiences to inform and guide national policy reform on women’s safety. YWCA Canberra is the auspicing body of the National Women’s Safety Alliance and the NWSA office is located at the YWCA Canberra.
The NWSA Policy and Advocacy Officer is a key role reporting directly to the CEO NWSA. The person in this role will develop and coordinate NWSA policy and advocacy work. This includes conducting research and developing policy positions and submissions; liaising with NWSA members; and providing administrative support to the NWSA CEO, Policy & Advocacy Advisory Committee and Working Groups. This position represents a unique opportunity to be part of the national conversation on women’s safety.
