The Odyssey Institute holds a Skills First contract with the Department of Education and Training for provision of government subsidised training. Along with fee for service contracts held with specific health and welfare agencies, the Institute holds a strong strategic position in the health and community services industry sectors for provision of quality training and assessment services. In conjunction with the RTO function, the Institute and manager also coordinates, promotes, and delivers the VicRoads Drink and Drug Drive Behaviour Change Programs, and retains the required registration requirements with VicRoads.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a two skilled, motivated, compassionate people who genuinely care about the development of their students, and who want to excel as a trainer/assessor in vocational education and training fields of either:

  1. Alcohol and Other Drugs, or
  2. First Aid and CPR

The positions

The positions are offered as casual contracts and are based at Footscray.

The collective key purpose of the positions is to contribute to the development of adult learners who may be part of the alcohol and other drugs and allied workforces and or those seeking to enter the workforce. Odyssey Institute provides training in flexible delivery utilising an online learning platform for learning and assessment activities. Training sessions and observational assessments are conducted using Zoom, however face to face classroom-based sessions can also be used dependent upon learner preferences and uptake.

The First Aid Trainer/Assessor will provide training sessions in First Aid and CPR from the Footscray training centre and other worksites based upon demand.

Work may also include the creation and maintenance of learning and assessment materials, resources, and quality documentation. Training and assessment may be carried out in face to face and online modes dependent upon cohort needs. Incumbents are also expected to contribute to the achievement of the strategic and business goals of the Odyssey Institute.

A day in the life of these positions includes: connecting with and motivating students to stay on track with their training plans, marking submitted assessments, conducting learning sessions via Zoom or regular face to face sessions, communicating, and sharing perspectives and information with other committed trainers and assessors.
