Board Director (voluntary)

Ondru

About Ondru

Ondru is a Melbourne-based non-profit humanitarian organisation working towards a more connected, compassionate and equitable society. We use art to provoke thought, evoke feeling and inspire change on issues of social justice. We make people think, feel and act through pioneering art projects that give voice to silent and unheard human stories and express the human condition. Our projects touch upon five core social justice issues and experiences: identity and displacement; health and well-being; homelessness; war and violence; and Indigenous issues. Projects are delivered locally and internationally using many forms of art including photography, theatre, dance, film, music, sculpture, poetry, digital projections and public art installations.

Our most known project is Voiceless Journeys, an art project that aims to celebrate the cultural diversity and raise awareness about the journey, struggle, survival and achievements of people from diverse backgrounds – people who were impacted by displacement.

After being significantly impacted by the global pandemic for over 18-months, Ondru is rebuilding the organisation to develop and deliver pioneering and impactful local and international projects. We are exercising strong leadership, sustainable strategy, partnerships and a lot of hard work to transform Ondru into a thriving organisation again. Currently we are working on an Indigenous project based in Melbourne, developing a major project for 2022 while building a new website to be launched later this year.
