The Role:

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our infrastructure team. In this role you will be responsible for deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure, security and networks. The role includes (but is not limited to) day-to-day infrastructure architecture & maintenance, process automation, performance optimisation, deployment automation CI/CD, AWS cloud administration, infrastructure cost management and technology selection. As part of the infrastructure team, you will contribute to network and system designs, infrastructure planning and design, cloud software deployments, server/serverless provisioning, user management and platform security. The role will be based at the OpenSolar office (Broadway).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for design, implementation and uptime of highly scalable application infrastructure running on AWS.
  • Configuring and refining cloud infrastructure systems; monitoring and managing cloud services.
  • Network design, management and administration.
  • Implementation and management of security policies including access controls.
  • Respond to operational incidents and problems, undertaking investigation, diagnosis and remedial activities.
  • Perform out-of-hours on-call response to critical incidents.
  • Measurement, optimisation, and tuning of system performance to ensure that systems run reliably and are highly available in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Configure and manage uptime monitoring.
  • Configure tools to handle backups and disaster recovery.
  • Configure tools to manage application and infrastructure security.

What you’ll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in an IT related discipline and/or AWS certification
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud security, networking, computation, storage, and application integration components.
  • Demonstrated experience with serverless applications in AWS.
  • Experience working in a production operational support role.
  • Linux operation and support experience.
  • Solid understanding of the full development process and agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with testing automation, CI/CD.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and a fast paced environment.
