About us:

Randwick Waverley Community Transport Group Limited (RWCTG) is a For purpose Organisation that provides transport services to people living in their own homes in the local government areas of Randwick and Waverley as well as other Eastern Sydney locations. The service was created to fill a need felt by the community to provide safe, reliable, door to door, even person to person transport. Our clients are from a varied and culturally diverse background and our people providing this service reflects the diversity of our community.

We currently cater for:

• Frail aged 65 years and over;
• NDIS participants
• The transport disadvantaged

The role:

The position involves driving for the Community Transport services in the service's vehicle, or other Organisations vehicles and requires someone with patience, flexibility, empathy, and a professional attitude to work. As part of the driving duties the driver will assist frail, disabled and/or elderly people entering or exiting the vehicle, as well as assisting clients to a the medical or hospital facility. Drivers representing RWCTG carry great responsibility and while out in the community are expected to behave professionally and always be courteous and polite to both clients and the wider community, upholding our teams culture and abiding by all policies and procedures. We are looking for casual staff initially for a 12 month period, but with potentially scope for more. As a culturally diverse organisation we welcome people from all cultural backgrounds where English maybe be your 2nd language.

The role in more detail:

• Retain appropriate level of RMS license/authorities required to fulfil duties be that in a car or bus. Including all relevant legal responsibilities under P2P and BOAS accreditations
• Perform Pre and Post Inspection Reports Daily
• Ensure the number of passengers at any one time does not exceed the legal carrying capacity
• At all times drive the vehicle in a manner that is safe, appropriate (to the client group) and within the legal and compliance requirements
• Follow directions provided on the on board technologies
• Ensure seatbelts are securely fitted on each passenger before undertaking transportation
• Aid passengers including the operation of wheelchair restraint systems consistent with the safe functioning of the vehicle
• Assist those clients who are able, to transfer from their wheelchair to the vehicle and to ensure the wheelchair is properly secured in transit
• Participate in training, development and team meetings as required
• Observe and comply with occupational Health and Safety standards, and all legislative requirements
• Always uphold client privacy and confidentiality
• Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others
• Handle money collection in a responsible and honest manner

What you will bring to the role:

• A strong knowledge of the road rules in NSW
• A current valid LR license or higher
• A good knowledge of the areas covered for transportation services

• An ability to multitask and the flexibility to manage changing priorities

• Police and Working with Children check or NDIS workers screening check and a current first aid certificate
