About the role

This is a new position within our growing organisation, this position will contribute to the finance team to ensure best practice accounting functions are maintained. Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Recording and reporting of the financial accounts and completion to balance sheet stage, including profit & loss, balance sheet  
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with Australian accounting and auditing standards, including reconciliations, journal entries and working papers  
  • Monthly account reconciliations 
  • Accounts payable management which includes oversighting establishment and maintenance of supplier files, procedures for collation, coding and approvals of supplier invoices, data entry and alignment to major procurement contracts  
  • Accounts receivable management including invoicing as required on revenue contracts and liaising with funding bodies as required  
  • End of month procedures conducted on a timely basis as per an agreed schedule  
  • Prepare financial acquittals as required  
  • Develop the financial knowledge and business acumen of the directors, managers and project leads  
  • Ensure allocation of employee wages is in line with budget  
  • Accurate transfer of payroll information to the Finance system 

About you

You will be a highly skilled and experienced Accountant with relevant degree qualifications, not for profit experience would be advantageous. You will be confident with the Xero accounting system, an understanding of payroll systems and you will have strong written and verbal communication skills when liaising with stakeholders.
