An OzChild Foster Care Recruiter and Trainer plays a critical role within the TFCO team with a focus on growing the number of new foster carers to support the program, giving South Australia’s most vulnerable young people a shot at a brighter future.

Working with key internal stakeholders, this role is accountable for the recruitment, assessment, and training of TFCO carers. Working alongside the marketing and carer recruitment team the role supports the implementation of the recruitment strategy and initiatives, and the end-to-end foster carer journey, from application assessment interviews through to face-to-face and/or online screenings and information sessions and assessment interviews and the ongoing training and development needs of carers.

What you will do

  • Targeted carer recruitment and coordination of carer assessments
  • Support the implementation of the recruitment strategy including the preparation and placement of local area recruitment initiatives
  • Identify and ensure delivery of ongoing carer training and development and facilitate and deliver foster carer training
  • Assess the foster carers by conducting assessments and identify potential placements for new carers
  • Maintain carer records and ensure foster care approval requirements are met for the duration of the partnership between carers and OzChild
  • Support and advocate for carers throughout their full foster care journey
  • Develop good working relationships with Aboriginal lead agencies to ensure cultural safety in our practice and good outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people
  • Think strategically and work as part of a team to overcome the challenges associated with the recruitment of new carers

Who we are looking for

  • Experience and familiarity with recruiting, training and supporting foster carers
  • Experience in child, youth and family sector and an understanding of the complex needs of children in residential care
  • Experience in conducting assessments of foster carers and delivering high quality training and support to foster carers
  • Knowledge and skills in ensuring the health and protection of children and young people, along with knowledge of the Child Protection and out-of-home care systems, standards and practices
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communicating with influence, organisational, planning, and relationship management and problem-solving skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a relevant discipline that is recognised in Australia
