Our TFCO story so far…

OzChild began delivering TFCO in Australia in 2017. Starting in Victoria with one team we are now delivering the program in NSW and QLD with five teams on the ground across the three states. The program supports children and young people aged 7-17, who are at risk of, or currently living in residential care facilities.

Due to the successful outcomes being achieved we have now expanded delivery of the program into South Australia to support young people aged 12-17 years (TFCO-A).

Your role:

The role of the Teacher is to provide educational support to the children and young people in the program and work closely with the school and treatment team to support the child to achieve success in educational settings.

The TFCO program is particularly effective for children who may have a history of trauma and/or neglect.

What you will do:

  • Implement education plans for young people
  • On call duties for carers and children 24/7 if in crisis on a roster
  • Guidance and support for students and teachers
  • Supporting the child's behaviour so they can learn
  • Improve educational participation
  • Improve educational outcomes
  • Improve learning outcomes
  • Assist other schoolteachers and staff and help them respond to behavioural, social and learning needs

Who we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Teaching or Education
  • We take a team approach so someone willing to share and engage in a team
  • Proven classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people aged 12-17 with challenging behaviour
  • Strong administrative skills and experience
  • Expert understanding of the SA teaching standards and both behavioural and learning needs of students
  • Curriculum expertise
  • Supporting those at risk of poor learning outcomes and children in out of home care
  • Current driving license (essential)
  • Understanding of a broad range of issues that impact on the education system

OzChild offers:

  • Flexible hours and location, work 4 or 5 days to fit in the hours
  • Hours are 30.4 per week, this is a 0.8 FTE role
