OzHarvest is committed to helping vulnerable people by delivering delicious, nutritious food to charities across Australia that feed those in need. As an Emergency Response Volunteer, you can help to provide food relief to people in Sydney who are experiencing food insecurity as a result of lockdowns and COVID-19. We have several opportunities available to Emergency Response Volunteers including:

• Packing food relief hampers for those in need at one of our Alexandria warehouses (Day Time, Evening and Weekend shifts available)
• Preparing and distributing hampers to the local community at one of our OzHarvest Pop-Up Hamper Hubs in Lakemba or Granville
• Preparing hampers at one of our Alexandria warehouses for our Kids Hamper Project in partnership with Woolworths, a short-term program providing support to children from vulnerable communities through lockdown

We're looking for volunteers to join us who thrive in a team environment, are connected to our purpose and have a positive, proactive attitude.

Training & Requirements:

• Volunteers must read Manual Handling information and will receive on-site instruction from an OzHarvest staff member.
• Heavy Lifting - Most activities involve some manual handling. Hamper Packing is a physical activity and volunteers must be comfortable repeatedly lifting 8-10kg. Volunteers must comply with Government and OzHarvest COVID-19 requirements.

Time Required:

• Emergency Response Volunteer shifts are 3 to 4 hours in duration and are available throughout the week at a variety of times.
• Emergency Response Volunteers can sign up for as many shifts as they would like to within a 3 month period.
