  • Editor of Australia’s leading psychotherapy and counselling journal

The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) is seeking applications for an Editor for its research journal, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia, PACJA. This interesting position will combine your passion for growing the evidence base of psychotherapy, counselling, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healing practices, with the satisfaction of seeing articles through to publication.

PAFCA is the leading peak body for the counselling and psychotherapy profession in Australia with a mission to advance counselling and psychotherapy. As part of its research mission, PACFA publishes PACJA which is an international, peer-reviewed journal which contributes to the evidence-base for counselling and psychotherapy. PACJA includes theoretical essays, experiential reports, and empirical studies featuring quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches. Articles are contributed by practitioners, researchers and educators.

The PACJA Editor will oversee editing and production of two editions of the journal annually, usually published in May and November. Responsibilities will include soliciting material for publication in PACJA; ensuring a quality and timely peer review process, including recruiting and managing reviewers; collaborating with the Editorial Board with decisions on the content and focus of the journal, including the editorial; overseeing production of the journal and its publication on PACFA’s website, in liaison with PACFA staff; and continually improving PACJA to prepare it for future publication with a professional journal house.
